Welcome to online registration for the Food Recovery for Rhode Island (FFRI) course! During this hybrid course, you will learn all about Food Recovery at the collective and individual scale. Food recovery involves diverting food from the waste stream to feed people, feed animals, compost or create biofuel. Combining research-based information, traditional knowledge, and practical application, you will learn to make the most out of your food at home while helping to make a change in the Rhode Island food system. You will come out of the course with several skills that you can apply directly in your day-to-day life from food preparation, preservation, composting and more.
This is a hybrid course including online instruction along with weekly, in-person field sessions throughout the state of Rhode Island. The course fee is $250 and covers access to the online course materials, the four required field sessions, class supplies and the 40-hour internship. Note that you may register for more field sessions (in addition to the required four) at the fee of $20/session. Financial awardees will have the option to enter a financial award code during the last page of checkout. Partial payment is also permitted. Please note that each participant must register separately.
